Hi! Thanks for making it to the about page! This journey started in January of 2016, I was currently 17 years old and just recently closed my online jewelry business and decided to shut my website down. never working a retail job before I decided I wanted a change, something steady, paid the same time each week, and so on.. I applied a few places..nothing... no email, no call back, nothing! I was super bummed but tried to stay positive and keep putting in applications to different places. I happened to be scrolling one day on the Instagram “explore” page & I came across a picture of some gorgeous chocolate covered strawberries a girl was advertising for Valentine’s Day, I’ve always liked to be in the kitchen and grew up growing strawberries on our farm, how hard could it be?! After a few YouTube videos and baking blogs I set off to the store, strawberries ✔️, chocolate ✔️, ziplock bags ✔️, fun sprinkles ✔️! Now the fun part... Let’s just say the first batch was a disaster.. below is a picture of the first ones I sold after a few attempts.

After a few batches and the family taking care of the extras I finally made some I was sorta kinda happy with! I made a Facebook post on my personal page telling my friends & family I was offering chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day! I think I ended up selling 6-8 dozen and I was so exited! Valentine’s Day passed and I had some very sweet feedback..But, now what? Surely after Valentine’s Day nobody would want chocolate covered strawberries. A few days passed and I got message after message asking if I could do these for a birthdays, anniversary’s, Just because, ect.. Shortly after that I became known as the strawberry girl 🍓, ( just look for me around town in my strawberry crocs and strawberry hat!) & South GA Sweets was born! Almost 5 years later we offer a wide verity of chocolate covered treats, baked goods, caramel apples, and much more! Thank you for reading if you made it to the end!
